On this installment of meet the team, we’re happy to introduce you to Eliza DeCroce-Movson, our Customer Support Advocate. Eliza is in charge of making sure that Oto users feel supported and confident in our products. As an avid traveler and foodie, Eliza can most often be found exploring new restaurants especially those known for their cheese dishes!
CellScope (CS): Tell us a little bit about your background before coming to CellScope.
(ED): I graduated from Vassar College in May of 2014 with a degree in Neuroscience and Behavior. My plan was always to go right to medical school after graduation, but once I started learning about public health and access inequality in the United States my whole focus shifted. This was catalyzed by my work on a clinical study that was examining how HIV diagnosis effects pregnancy intent in women with HIV/AIDS. I was working mostly with underserved populations and it became abundantly clear to me that there were so many social factors acting as barriers to my participants’ ability to receive real, effective medical care. I wanted to change the system before I became involved as a clinician.
CS: What inspires you to come to work everyday?
(ED): Our healthcare system is very broken, but I know that it can be fixed. I believe that the solution lies at the intersection of healthcare and technology and to me, CellScope represents that intersection. It’s not hard to feel inspired when you know that you have the potential to influence positive change every day.
CS: What do you enjoy most about working at CellScope?
(ED): The customers! I’m happiest when I’m interacting with other people, so it’s a pleasure to work with our HOME and PRO users. And of course, the team. I feel so lucky to work with such a dynamic group of individuals.
CS: What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
(ED): Explore. There is so much to see and do and EAT in San Francisco! I love to travel so whenever I have the opportunity, I take it. Next on my list is Japan!
CS: If you could only eat one thing what would it be?
(ED): Definitely cheese. Hopefully this would include cheesy foods too, but I would be fine with just eating plain cheese as well.
CS: What is the last thing you geeked out about?
(ED): The Oculus Rift! (pictured above). One of our Web Developers, Crockett, brought in his Oculus Rift for our Friday “Teach the Team” and it was incredible! I can’t stop talking about it. If you need a way to kill time, watching youtube videos of people on the virtual roller coaster is perfect.
